It is very difficult to describe Victor Wooten's Bass/Nature Camp to anyone that hasn't experienced it. What follows is an attempt to give you an idea of what it's all about and what kind of an impact it can have on your life.
The camp is held at Montgomery Bell State Park, in Burns TN. It's a beautiful setting about 50 miles west of Nashville. We had a large area of the park entirely to ourselves with lots of room for music and nature instruction, comfortable cabins, and lots of places to pitch tents.
| Anthony Wellington, Dave Welsch, and Jonathan Morse drove shuttles of people and gear from Nashville International Airport. Here are some 'WOOTIES' loading up for the trip out to the camp. |

Here's a rough drawing of the camp area. Our bass class sessions were help in the main building, the cottage and the pavilion. The nature sessions took place in the big field in the center of the map and out in the woods.

Victor's wife Holly got us all registered and told us where the cabins were. We were also free to pitch tents if we wished. |
Meanwhile, the staff was doing some planning.

Victor
gathered a great bunch of his friends to help out.

We didn't
know it, but the staff had already spent
two days moving in and setting equipment for us to use!

The camp
was sponsored by Fodera Guitars, Ampeg, SWR, Hudson Music, Reunion Blues,
Matthews and Ryan, EBS, D'Addario, Kodak, Compass Records, and Warner Brothers
Publications.
Fodera
Guitars donated a Victor Wooten Classic 4-String Bass,
which Victor had played on-tour, to be raffled off on the final day of the camp.
