I first played this song in NYC at a Drummers Collective/Bass Day show. The day before, I was thinking about what I wanted to play. I knew that everyone would expect me to come out and play some fireworks and pyrotechnics on the bass. So, I decided to go the opposite route. I came up with this pretty melody and improvised it on the show. I was happy with how it came out.

I recorded the intro to the tune as a solo bass piece on only one track. I then added another bass line once the drums start. I recorded the rest of the song to a click track and had Derico add some brush work on the drums. At the same time Joseph added his keys.

Soon after, the tracks from that session were mysteriously lost. We still don't know how. Fortunately I follow a strict rule of making a ‘good' rough mix at the end of every session. I was able to take my mix of bass, drums, and keys and fly it back into Pro Tools from my rough mixed CD. This is risky but it worked.

I then added Saundra, Howard and Eric later as an over-dub on top of my rough mix. See, U never would have known.

Ari is my youngest daughter Arianna. Her eyes tell a tale. Close your eyes and U may see hers as U listen to this song.
