Now this is a fun song. It is a tribute to some of our bass heroes. Each lyric talks about a popular bass player. In order to express our gratitude to them I got many of my bass playing friends to sing a lyric. It's pretty cool because many of the singers on this song aren't known for their singing, they're bass players.

I recorded this one over a few years in different parts of the country. Whenever there was a NAMM show in Nashville I would grab all the bass players and bring them to the studio. It was great seeing their faces when they found out that I wanted them to sing instead of play. For those that were out of town, Kurt or I would bring my Roland 1680 somewhere to record them. I remember after recording Gary Grainger in Nashville, his vocal track mysteriously disappeared. So, on a trip to visit my relatives in Washington DC, I met him at a music store and he re-recorded his vocal track in a back room. Thanks Gary.

Kurt flew up to NYC and recorded Will, TM and Christian. The Bass Collective was kind enough to let us use a room for recording. Thanx a lot to the B.C for that.

The neat thing about this song is that whenever U hear a bass players name mentioned U will hear one of us play a bass line in the style of that person. We had a good time with that in the studio.

There's one place in the song where there are three different popular bass songs being played at once. See if U can find that section and recognize what songs they are. It's pretty cool.

Of course, we couldn't mention all of the great players in one song but we know who U are and we appreciate what U do. Who knows, listen to the reprise on the CD. Your name might be in there.
