I had the basic idea for this funky song for a while but, as usual, it was just an idea when I booked the session. This song has JD Blair written all over it but he couldn't make the session because he was out of town playing drums for Shania Twain at that time. So I called Derico and asked him to play it with a JD type of vibe. I don't usually like asking someone to play like someone else but Derico didn't seem to mind and as U can hear, he ‘nailed' it.

I didn't finish writing the music until the band showed up at the studio. Actually, I didn't even have the main bass line until the morning of the session. That's how I work most of the time. The pressure of having little time gets me into a different place of mind.

I then took a part from an old song of mine written on guitar back in the 80's and used it as a interlude into the chorus. It fit perfectly. It made me happy that I never finished the song back then.

After I recorded the music for this song, I immediately knew that it was tailor made for Bootsy. But first, I needed lyrics of my own. I had a few ideas but I enlisted my brother Joseph to help me finish them. Together we finished the lyrics and left holes for Bootsy. I sent the track to him with instructions to feel free to put vocals anywhere he felt they should go. I like doing it this way with Bootsy because he always surprises me with something much better than I could have ever imagined. The result speaks for itself. It is classic Bootsy Collins. I hope U enjoy it.
